The Stretch Everyone Skips (But Shouldn’t)
If your low back has been sending passive-aggressive emails or your IT band feels like it’s been shrink-wrapped, allow me to introduce one of the most underrated feel-good moves out there: the Standing Lateral Line Stretch.
This simple but sneaky stretch targets the long chain of tissue running from the outside of your foot all the way up through your hip, ribs, and shoulder—aka the same line that loves to get cranky with lots of sitting, running, or heavy training. Done well, it gives the IT band some breathing room and creates a gentle decompression effect through the spine that many people feel immediately in their low back. No foam roller wrestling match required.
Watch this coaching video below to see how to set it up, where people usually cheat it, and how to get the most out of each rep.
